Kalara Borneo's presence is intended to serve as a platform for creating value-added downstream products within the upstream-downstream supply chain. Cacao and Maram Fruit
Focusing on two non-timber forest products from Kalimantan, namely Cacao in tropical rainforests and Maram in peat swamps. Utilizing existing land for cacao intercropped in the middle of monoculture rubber plantations and maximizing maram fruit that bears fruit abundantly throughout the year. Contributing to the transition of monoculture plantations to agroforestry, contributing to preventing land conversion, and contributing to reducing the percentage of deforestation.

Yohana Tamara, known as Ara, is a Dayak woman from West Kalimantan, Indonesia. She is a value chain expert and social entrepreneur with over seven years of experience in regenerative agriculture, climate resilience, and rural community development. Her work involves building partnerships with farmers, indigenous communities, women’s groups, cooperatives, NGOs, government agencies, private sectors, and international organizations. Deeply rooted in her culture and environment, Ara is driven by a mission to elevate Borneo’s local commodities to the global market through inclusive and sustainable business models.
Ara earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Swinburne University, Malaysia, and later completed an MSc in Entrepreneurship at the University of Liverpool, England, specializing in social enterprise. She brings hands-on expertise in product development, particularly in innovating with non-timber forest products to enhance value across the supply chain. Through Kalara Borneo, she connects local production with global demand, delivering a credible, impact focused enterprise built on local trust, strong business capability, and long term growth potential.
